Gordon Hinckley Memorable LDS Quotes

Gordon Bitner Hinckley was the 15th president of the LDS church his presidency ran from 1995 until 2008 when he passed away. Considered by many to be a seer, prophet, revelator and inspirational leader by LDS Church members Hinckley was the oldest person ever to preside over the LDS Church in its history. The presidency of Hinckley was most noted for temple construction; in fact over half of the existing LDS temples were built during Mr Hinckley’s presidency. President Hinckley also oversaw the rebuilding of the temple in Nauvoo Illinois as well as the construction of the conference centre which seats almost 21,000 people. In 2008 and he passed away almost a third of the LDS church had joined during his leadership.

The memory of Gordon Hinckley is remembered and honoured in many of the now immortal LDS quotes that he made at LDS church services and general conferences during his presidency. Many of the most wildly used LDS quotes are from Mr Hinckley and they have been quoted by many religious leaders and speakers worldwide.

“And so, my brothers and sisters, we are met together in this great conference to fortify and strengthen one another, to help and lift one another, to give encouragement and build faith, to reflect on the wonderful things the Lord has made available to us, and to strengthen our resolve to oppose evil in whatever form it may take.”

“Generally speaking, the most miserable people I know are those who are obsessed with themselves; the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others…By and large, I have come to see that if we complain about life, it is because we are thinking only of ourselves.”

The quotes above are just some of the many great and inspirational messages that were passed on by the now late Gordon Hinckley. He is considered to be one of the greatest presidents in the history of the Mormon Church and for this reason his messages are still widely quoted to this day.
